The DOEK COURT follows the design of wingtip tennis shoes, eliminating any particular statement pieces and instead focusing solely on making the most of the materials. The canvas used is primarily a coarse-weave canvas woven on a power loom in the same region. The off-white color is undyed, so the fabric retains its natural texture without shrinking. The footbed is made of cork, a naturally breathable material. The vulcanization process, performed with meticulous handwork, produces everyday items that are beautiful, comfortable, and durable, just what you need for modern life.
Follows in the footsteps of the classic Derby-style tennis shoe-design. The canvas is coarsely woven using a power loom. The ecru cloth is undyed, so it would not wear thin, preserving the original look and feel of the cloth itself. The footbed is made with naturally-breathing cork. It is daily wear with beauty, comfort, and durability, due to the vulcanizing method that is done by hand.
About the fabric
The power loom, invented in England at the end of the 18th century, is said to have sparked the Industrial Revolution. The weft thread is inserted by a shuttle moving back and forth from side to side. Original canvases woven on this traditional machine have a charming, airy, fluffy texture. They are still being woven in a workshop in the Chikugo region of Fukuoka Prefecture.
